President of Ankara Bagel (Simit) Producers Chamber, announced that bagel, which was 5 TL in the capital, would be sold at 7 TL starting tomorrow.

According to the news on media he explained the reason for the hike as follows:

“On Monday a 100-gram bagel will be 7 TL in Ankara. Not only in Ankara, but in Turkey, the Ankara bagel has become 7 liras due to the fact that natural gas has received a 164 percent increase, electricity has received a 200 percent increase, flour prices have risen by 20 percent, 30 percent again, sesame prices have increased, rents have increased and the minimum wage has received a 65 percent increase.”

The same person had previously stated that the real price of the bagel should be 10 TL and that the tradesmen could not stand it any more due to energy costs and rent hikes.
